Shooting in a Florida supermarket kills three people, including a shooter


Three people are dead - including one child - following a Thursday morning shooting that took place at a Publix supermarket in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, USA Today reported.

"Upon arrival deputies located three individuals deceased from gunshot wounds, one adult male, one adult female, and one child", they said in a statement.

At 11:39 am, lawmakers responded to the shooting and found that three people, including the shooter, had been shot dead.

Melissa McKinley, Commissioner of Palm Beach County, said the deceased child was a toddler. The agent said the other two included a woman and a child.

Investigators are investigating the cause of the shooting, officials said. "You don't like to hear about them anywhere in the country", Ms McKinlay said, WPTV reports.

"Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy", Brous said. The company is Florida's largest grocery chain and has more than 1,200 stores in the Southern United States. All additional questions should be forwarded to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Joey Mendoza, a 62-year-old Royal Palm Beach resident, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel he had just arrived at the store, and was still in his vehicle in the parking lot, when he spotted officers wearing tactical gear hurrying inside.

Royal Palm Beach, which is home to approximately 40,000 people, is about 50 miles from Fort Lauderdale, and just over 30 miles from Boca Raton.
