UK PM Johnson marries in secret ceremony

In a highly critical report, the Prime Minister's adviser on ministerial standards concluded that Mr Johnson should have had "more rigorous regard for how this would be funded".

One guest at today's wedding told the Mail on Sunday when asked if the Prime Minister had Wednesday: "You are not barking up the wrong tree". Only 30 guests were invited to the ceremony under COVID-19 protocol, and they were reportedly invited at the last minute.

Shortly after 1.30pm, the church was suddenly cleared of visitors, with staff saying it was going into lockdown, the Sun reported.

Symonds arrived at the lunchtime nuptials in a limousine and wore "a stunning long and flowing white dress" but chose not to wear a veil, it added.

Classical music was said to be played as they walked down the aisle and exchanged vows.

The Sun reported that the ceremony at the Catholic cathedral was carried out by Father Daniel Humphreys who had given the couple pre-marriage instructions, and baptised Wilfred previous year.

It is believed that armed police were standing by for the ceremony.

Mr Johnson and Ms Symonds were the first unmarried couple to live in Downing Street, having moved in together during July 2019. Johnson had proposed setting up a charitable foundation to cover additional costs. The proposal reportedly came following his win in the December General Election.

Before Wheeler, Johnson was married to socialite Allegra Mostyn-Owen.

Dancing is not advised, although there is nothing advising against the couple's traditional first dance.

According to The Telegraph, Johnson married fiancée Carrie Symonds at Westminster Cathedral.

Downing Street has declined to comment.

The wedding comes at the end of a hard week for the Prime Minister in which his former aide Dominic Cummings branded him unfit for office.

The reported nuptials come after a tumultuous political week for Johnson, who was accused by former top aide Dominic Cummings on Wednesday of bungling the government's response to the coronavirus and being "unfit for the job". The couple only finalised their divorce last November.
