The entire neighborhood is really scared after learning about the gruesome killings.

In a brief interview with the Los Angeles Times, Denton confirmed he was the father of the three children and said he'd been in a custody battle with Carrillo after she began acting mentally unstable.

Cuevas also revealed that one of the children really loved her dog and always asked if she could pet her chihuahua.

"Those babies were such sweet little ones", she said.

Elizabeth Cuevas, who lives in an apartment above the one where the crime took place, said she knew the grandmother as a casual acquaintance.

Authorities remained at the complex after dark on Saturday, with yellow police tape stretched in front of the building.

Residents in the neighborhood gathered outside to watch reporters conducting interviews, with children milling around in the grass. Cuevas said. "An angel shouldn't have to go that way". "Somebody snapped there, and they snapped in the wrong direction", Cuevas told the police.
