Two people were killed and at least eight others injured in separate shootings at Virginia Beach's oceanfront, in the eastern USA state of Virginia, local police said early Saturday.

Multiple people have been shot at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, according to Virginia Beach Police.

Some of these injuries range from serious to life-threatening.

In addition to the shootings, a Virginia Beach police officer was also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

As police were investigating at a separate location, officers said they heard additional shots nearby. It is unclear if that officer was the one involved in the second crime scene.

No suspect information was immediately available. The suspect is deceased, authorities said. Neudigate had said the officer was struck by a vehicle during the investigation. He has been with the department for five years and is assigned to its special operations division.
