Snowfall warning for Pembroke, Petawawa and Cobden area

Toronto has been issued a snowfall warning which will last until Tuesday morning.

"Although crews will be doing their work, I expect it may be tricky for back to school tomorrow".

On Monday evening, there will be a 60% chance of flurries which will be heavy at times, according to Environment Canada.

"This ban is necessary to allow us to address the significant snowfall that will have fallen", the City says on its website.

Things will start to clear on Tuesday.

Some light snow did fall in parts of Ottawa just after 9 a.m. and into the early afternoon, but the bigger storm is expected overnight.

The first will be today with about 5 centimeters (2 inches) then a second more intense dumping will happen around midnight through Tuesday morning with 15-25 centimeters (6 to 10 inches) on the ground.

The snow is expected to heavily affect visibility as well as the safety conditions of roads, highways, walkways, and parking lots.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become hard to navigate due to accumulating snow.
