Ireland Covid cases surge as health official warns virus is 'absolutely rampant'

HEALTH OFFICIALS HAVE this evening reported 1,754 more cases of Covid-19 in Ireland and said that more than 9,000 cases will be reported over the coming days.

The priorities for the state's next phase are yet to be finalized, and could be decided by the state Community Vaccine Advisory Committee next Wednesday. The state plan is to "immunize for impact".

The groups who fall under the 1A category include healthcare personnel in hospitals, long term care facilities, dental office workers, correctional facility employees, pharmacy workers and EMS personnel. 1C is people ages 65-74, those 18-64 with high-risk conditions and all other essential workers.

An increase of 276 hospitalizations throughout the state were reported at 12,268 of which 3,764 cases were reported hospitalized in North Texas, 45 more than Dec 30.

Meanwhile in Quebec City, nearly 100 people at a long-term care home - both residents and staff - have tested positive for COVID-19 after they were vaccinated against the virus, according to the regional health authority.
