Mike Richardson, the former Chicago Bears star cornerback who was a part of the Super Bowl XX team, was arrested Wednesday on murder charges in Arizona. Police found Like with a severe gunshot wound on Tuesday (December 29), and he was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said the former professional soccer participant was booked Wednesday on suspicion of murder, misconduct involving weapons and a felony warrant. The Arizona Republic reported that the police began treating the shooting as a murder shortly after Like's death.

Richardson, a native of Compton, California, was a starting cornerback for Bears' prolific defense in 1985 and was named a second-team All-Pro in 1986.

According to the jail records, his bond is now set at $1 million, and he is scheduled to appear in court on January 7.

"I'm L.A. Mike and I play it cool, they don't sneak by me because I'm no fool", Richardson rhymed on the song. He went to Arizona State University and was drafted by the Bears in 1983.

Maricopa County jail records show Richardson was being held without bond on charges of murder, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and possession of a unsafe drug for sale.
