Moderna Begins Study of Covid-19 Vaccine in Adolescents in US

Uber Technologies Inc on Thursday sent letters to the governors of all US states, asking for its ride-hail and food-delivery drivers to get early access to COVID-19 vaccines as essential workers.

"We are thinking we might get a few hundred by the end of December but that is just a guess", said Sarah Poe, Malheur County Health Department director.

"It will take an incredible amount of administrative work for the preparation", said Poe.

Officials from the Pentagon announced the vaccination program on Wednesday. Many people want to give it a while to see how well the initial shots do. The firm earlier said that the vaccine demonstrated safety, immunogenicity, neutralisation antibody activity in the rodent and non-human primate models.

Stephen Evans, a professor of pharmacoepidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said the regulator had done the right thing, but the general public shouldn't be anxious about getting the vaccine. "I don't think we envision any countries creating a mandate for vaccination". Crossley said two "ultra" freezer units will be installed shortly in order to store that specific vaccine. He would extend that advice to people who carry EpiPens. Experts suggest 70% of the USA population needs to be vaccinated to get to the point to where enough people are protected that the virus can be held in check.

Poe said both vaccines will be administered in double doses, 21 to 28 days apart.

A federal advisory panel to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention recently recommended frontline health care workers and long-term care facility residents should be the first groups to receive COVID-19 vaccine doses.
