Landry, Higgins, Peoples-Jones, Hodge on COVID/reserve list

The Covid-19 reserve list was finalized after one player on the team tested positive and the Browns carried out contact-tracing to determine who was in close contact with him.

NY also promoted linebackers Sharif Finch and Brady Sheldon from the practice squad and added linebacker Noah Dawkins from the practice squad as a COVID-19 replacement on Saturday.

Cleveland did get some good news as starting rookie left tackle Jedrick Wills was activated Saturday from the COVID-19 list after being placed there Thursday due to close contact with a person outside the team.

The NFL has said repeatedly it won't postpone or cancel games for competitive reasons, including a team being depleted or wiped out at one position.

The Browns will be shorthanded in the receiving game heading into Sunday's contest against the Jets after four wide receivers - including Jarvis Landry - were placed on the COVID-19 reserve list Saturday.

But even the star doesn't know if the film will get greenlit, telling the entertainment news outlet that "We'll have to wait and see".

With the game still on as scheduled, the Browns elevated wide receivers Ja'Marcus Bradley and Derrick Willies from the practice squad as well as linebacker Montrel Meander.

The team later announced that Rashard Higgins, KhaDarel Hodge, Jarvis Landry, and Donovan Peoples-Jones were the pass catchers who were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

They will not be able to participate in Sunday's game against the Jets. Wills never tested positive. They'll do so with a win Sunday and a loss by Indianapolis, Miami or Baltimore. Hodge has nine catches for 155 yards. Goodson has been credited with 59 tackles, made two interceptions and provided leadership for coach Kevin Stefanski.

As the Denver Broncos learned earlier this season, replacing an entire position group due to COVID-19 contact tracing is almost impossible amid a pandemic.

With the impressive way the Browns have been playing, this game would seem to be an easy win for Cleveland.
