European Union nations start assessing post-Brexit trade deal with United Kingdom

A Brexit deal has been agreed, days before a deadline. And economists say that under this deal, in fact, the per capita income of this country is going to grow about 6.4% slower than it would have if the United Kingdom had stayed in the EU.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hinted at a sombre mood as she adopted the language of Shakespeare announcing a Brexit deal.

The deal provides for "continued and sustainable air, road, rail and maritime connectivity", the European Commission said.

"Boris Johnson was elected Prime minister to get Brexit done, he has now definitively got Brexit done", Menon said.

"People said it was impossible, but we have taken back control". We have a duty to spread opportunity more equally across the UK.

"We will be able to decide how and where to stimulate new jobs".

In recent days, thousands of trucks have been backed up at Channel ports, after France and other European partners blocked crossings over rising cases of a new virus variant believed to spread faster.

Mr Johnson said: "Tonight, on Christmas Eve, I have a small present for anyone who may be looking for something to read in that sleepy post-Christmas lunch moment, and here it is, tidings, glad tidings of great joy because this is a deal".

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, the leader of the pro-independence Scottish National Party, said in a statement that the deal "beggars belief". Opposition leaders, even those who are minded to back it because it's better than a no-deal scenario, said it adds unnecessary costs on businesses and fails to provide a clear framework for the crucial services sector, which accounts for 80% of the British economy.

And for Britain's heavyweight financial sector, "in the long run, the reality of Brexit will be either following European Union rules or self-isolation", the second European Union diplomatic source said.

KFC , of course, has given zero details on the full specifications, price, or even compatible software for the KFConsole . And of course, a small, built-in chicken chamber to put fried chicken in to keep it warm while playing games.

Mr Johnson said the deal did not contain as much as he would have liked on regulatory equivalence for financial services, but still contained some "good language".

'But today I only feel quiet satisfaction and - frankly speaking - relief.

She struck a subdued tone when she used a line from Romeo and Juliet to express her mood, saying "parting is such sweet sorrow".

David Frost, the UK's lead negotiator, said the deal would "restore Britain's sovereignty in full".

"It is high time India signs some kind of trade deal with these markets, because the way Vietnam has operationalized its FTA with the European Union, we are going to face the heat".

A deal had seemed imminent for nearly a day, until haggling over just how much fish EU boats should be able to catch in British waters delayed the announcement of one of the most important trade deals in recent European history. "That is our commitment", he said.

For tired Brexit negotiators on both sides of the English Channel, a Christmas Eve trade agreement sealed 11 months of painstaking deliberations over Britain's departure from the European Union, encompassing details as arcane as what species of fish could be caught by each side's boats in British waters. Without a trade deal, it would have acerbated chaos at the border where checks on goods will have to be increased since Britain is fully out of the 27-nation bloc.
