"You know I came today and I was like, let's just have fun and enjoy", said Hamilton, who equaled Michael Schumacher's record haul of seven championships at the last race, in Turkey, two weeks ago. "The marshals and FIA people they did a great job, it was scary". The Russian was given a 10-second penalty. A safety auto was deployed for the second time - leaving Hamilton to lead a slow-mo queue to the flag.
Moments later, Grosjean was shown on television chatting with the race doctor in the medical vehicle. He appeared to be shaken but did not immediately seem injured other than a slight limp.
Grosjean's relieved team said the driver had only light burns to his hands and ankles.
Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton expressed his relief on Twitter while waiting for the race to restart. "So I am more grateful that it went the way to achieve this moment".
"But it's nothing new really this season - we've had races [where] it's been raining on Friday, or the race weekend with just one practice. Thankful to the FIA for the massive strides we've taken for Romain to walk away from that safely".
He said, "To get another opportunity like this in the autumn of my career - I'm extremely hot for it".
Donald Trump challenges Joe Biden to prove his votes
In his Thanksgiving Day remarks, Trump, however, said it will be a mistake if the Electoral College were to elect Biden. Mr Biden leads Mr Trump 306 votes to 232 under the electoral college system used to pick U.S. presidents.
Romain Grosjean escapes from his burning vehicle at the F1 Bahrain GP.
Hamilton was fastest on both runs in final qualifying, but did not get the best out of his first lap, which was slower than he had managed on harder "medium" tyres in second qualifying. There are little bits everywhere, it's not one thing.
The halo is a safety device that forms a protective ring around the drivers' head. It was a shame to finish such a good race behind the safety vehicle, and again close to the points, however, it was a strong weekend overall and we have set ourselves up nicely for the challenge of the Sakhir Grand Prix next week.
The accident happened when Grosjean lost grip and slid to the right, where his back wheel clipped the front of Daniil Kvyat's Alpha-Tauri causing him to fly off into the barrier.
For the first lap [in fresh tyres] it's great, but with the pace auto after the red flag and safety vehicle [at the end of the race for Sergio Perez' retirement] the three-stop was a no-go.
Sergio Perez was a strong fifth only 0.048s shy of Albon's best effort, but his Racing Point team will be wary of Renault teammates Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon starting behind him in sixth and seventh as the two teams battle for third in the championship. The incidents that each suffered were unusual and we are thankful that they each walked away without serious injury.
