Major news networks announce Joe Biden has won the US Presidency

Joe Biden is forecasted to win his home state of Pennsylvania, which would make him the 46th President of the United States.

Mr Trump made a series of unsubstantiated allegations to claim he is being cheated out of re-election, while Mr Biden had called for calm as votes in key battleground states were counted well past November 3.

Joe Biden may be closing in on the Presidency but Trump is in mood to bow out yet.

Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and MI, all key to Trump's upset victory over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, barred election officials from counting mail-in ballots early, so many officials initially expected results in those states to not be finalized until after election day.

Biden, 77, is the oldest candidate ever elected to the White House. "In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted", Biden said on Twitter.

Biden, who was born in Scranton, claims favorite-son status in the state and has long played up the idea that he was Pennsylvania's "third senator" during his decades representing neighboring Delaware.

Biden was Vice President under Barrack Obama from 2009 until 2017.

It all depends on which of the remaining five states - Arizona , Nevada , Pennsylvania , North Carolina , and Georgia - they win. Congress for the next two years, and the Democratic drive to win control of the Senate appeared to be falling short.

Could electors be chosen on some other basis than the popular vote in a given state? Biden is the first candidate to defeat in incumbent since Democrat Bill Clinton defeated then-President George H.W. Bush in 1992. This also was compounded by the fact that some states-especially, those controlled by Republicans-did not allow the counting of those ballots until Election Day, even when a significant amount of these ballots were received well before the election.

It's now safe to say Joe Biden has won the US Presidential election.

Sheikh Mohammed said, "Congratulations to the President-Elect of the United States @JoeBiden and Vice President-Elect @KamalaHarris".

"Every vote must be counted", Biden said in a speech alongside running mate Sen. He told CNN there was "no legitimacy" to the comments of Trump campaign officials and supporters alleging election malfeasance.

Biden has said his first priority will be developing a plan to contain and recover from the pandemic, promising to improve access to testing and, unlike Trump, to heed the advice of leading public health officials and scientists. "It's about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it", tweeted Harris, a USA senator from California and the first woman of color to be elected to the vice presidency.

The other networks still only have Biden at 273, not having called Arizona or Nevada as of publication time.
