Amber Heard Addresses Petition to Remove Her From 'Aquaman 2'

"Paid rumours and paid campaigns on social media don't dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality", the actress said.

Now, in response to the news, a petition has popped up to see Heard similarly removed from Aquaman 2, which is currently set for release at the end of 2022. This announcement was made after the 57-year-old actor lost the libel suit against a British tabloid for calling him a "wife beater" in regards to his troublesome marriage with Amber Heard.

Earlier today, Amber Heard confirmed that she will return as Mera in Aquaman 2.

The petition continues: "Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for abusing a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree, demonstrating a repeated pattern of abuse by Amber Heard". A petition calling for Depp to be brought back into the fray has now reached over 100,000 signatures, though it is being reported that Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is already in talks to take over.

Heard shut down online speculation about her character Mera.

Johnny Depp has maintained his innocence, and in his Instagram statement, he said he plans to appeal the decision.

Alex Trebek passes away after battle with pancreatic cancer
Trebek, the host of " Jeopardy! " since 1984, first announced his cancer diagnosis to the world in early 2019. Trebek won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host in June, bringing his total to seven.

Johnny Depp is now suing Amber Heard in USA courts, as mentioned by the petition, for $50 million.

Behind the cameras, Aquaman co-writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will return to pen the sequel, and James Wan is expected to sit back in the director's chair. He has also sued Heard for defamation following an article she wrote for the Washington Post about sexual violence.

Heard plays the warrior Mera in the 2018 DC superhero movie, and Entertainment Weekly reports she will be reprising her role in the sequel.

Obviously, one party's guilt does not necessarily equate to the other's innocence, but it truly is worth noting that - in the eyes of the law - Heard was not lying about her abuse claims. Although Depp was paid $10 million for the one scene he shot for "Fantastic Beasts 3", many fans found it unfair that Heard got to keep her role in "Aquaman 2" and "Justice League", while the actor was asked to resign. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false.

Despite Heard's remarks, the project hasn't been officially greenlit and there's no confirmation of who has been cast in the movie.
