Many Leicester fans feared a hangover this season but Brendan Rodgers' men have responded with three straight victories - including the 5-2 triumph at the Etihad Stadium - to move to the top of the table ahead of Saturday's meeting with West Ham. Leicester won the game 5-2.

Manchester City will take on Leicester City at home on Sunday, in a match which is expected to be a thriller.

Guardiola's cause has not been helped by injuries to key players, including his best defender Aymeric Laporte and star striker, Sergio Agüero, but numerous individual and collective defensive shortcomings evident in the dismal Champions League defeat by Lyon last month were on show again against Brendan Rodgers' side, not least their susceptibility to pace on the counter-attack.

The defeat gives champions Liverpool an early opportunity to open a six-point lead in the title race when they face Arsenal tomorrow night.

Amartey, who did not make the Black Stars squad for the friendly against Mali next month, played his first Premier League game in 23 months. Guardiola's side will be without Brazilian worldwide Gabriel Jesus for at least a month because of a muscle issue while Oleksandr Zinchenko, Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo are all ruled out through injury. That's probably what disrupted us towards the end of last season. James Justin failed to clear a De Bruyne corner and Mahrez rushed in to smash an unstoppable rising shot into the top corner.

De Bruyne did clip a fine free-kick into the area but Fernandinho's header was straight at Kasper Schmeichel.

"We know that Vardy runs from far, far away and [Harvey] Barnes you have to control him".

Vardy picked himself up to drill the penalty high into the roof of Ederson's net for his third successful spot-kick this season.

Garcia's push gave Leicester another penalty in the 58th minute. This match can happen just one of 100 [times] but it's happened.

Jamie Vardy scored the first three goals of the game, before Maddison and another penalty, this time put away by Youri Tielemans, capped things off.

Maddison came off the bench to compound City's misery with his 25-yard curler into the top corner in the 77th minute.
