With deadline looming, election officials rushing to mail out absentee ballots

"We're right up against those deadlines and our clerks are working to get all those ballots out", said Meagan Wolfe of Wisconsin Elections Commission.

Walker said she used multiple addresses because she moved when the Green Party began collecting signatures needed to acquire a spot on the ballot.

2016 Green Party candidate Jill Stein accrued 31,000 Wisconsin votes in the last general election.

In an email sent to county election officials shortly after the Supreme Court's ruling, the Texas secretary of state indicated that counties that had already sent out mail ballots would need to send a corrected version "as soon as possible". That would have forced clerks to reprint and mail the ballots less than two months before the election.

Friday, a circuit court judge also rejected rapper Kanye West's appeal to be placed on the ballot, confirming a previous decision by the state election commission.

But on Monday, a divided 4-3 court vacated that order, finding that Hawkins and Walker waited too long before challenging the commission's decision not to include them.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday rejected the appeal by Howie Hawkins and Angela Walker, the Green Party candidates for President and Vice President, to appear on the Wisconsin ballot.

Three of the four conservative justices dissented. Hawkins was criticized for retaining a conservative law firm to appeal the decision of the Wisconsin Election Commission. Completed ballots from military or overseas voters are accepted if they're mailed by Election Day and received by November 9.

More than 1,850 clerks in municipalities big and small were working to meet a Thursday deadline in state law to mail ballots to the more than 1 million voters who had requested them so far. If they're postmarked by 7 p.m. that day, they'll be counted if they come in the next day by 5 p.m.

For most people voting absentee, Texas counties must receive completed ballots by Election Day.

"It is too late to grant petitioners any form of relief that would be feasible and that would not cause confusion and undue damage to both the Wisconsin electors who want to vote and the other candidates in all of the various races on the general election ballot", they wrote. In a state that incumbent President Donald Trump won by less than 23,000 votes in 2016, both parties believed Hawkins could have siphoned votes from Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

Three Republican election commission members said Hawkins should be on the ballot while three Democratic members said he didn't qualify because his running mate listed an incorrect address on thousands of nominating signatures. Tony Evers' stay-at-home order.
