Sebastian Vettel may be leaving Ferrari at the end of this season, but the German will be staying in Formula 1.

"If there was ever a sniff of a podium, Checo was ready to pounce, and those five podiums represent some of the finest days in the history of this team", said Otmar Szafnauer, CEO and team principal of Racing Point.

"As a four-time world champion, Sebastian brings a fresh mindset to the team".

"And more so with the regulations changing it is going to be more of a level playing field and will be a lot of firsts, first time for the team to be in a position to have probably the same money as the other teams".

Vettel has admitted he considered retiring before signing on with Aston Martin, and Hamilton added: "It's quite a big shift from Ferrari to an up-and-coming team".

"I was really pleased to hear it because that team has new ownership, has already taken a huge step forwards in its performance, and it can continue to grow".

Regarding the confidence he expressed about his future with Racing Point over the summer as the speculation involving Vettel ramped up, Perez said it was simply based on his ongoing exchanges with his team.

"The energy and commitment of Lawrence [Stroll, Racing Point part-owner] to the sport is inspiring and I believe we can build something very special together".

Instead, the Tuscan Grand Prix will be dominated by talk of his decision to join Lance Stroll at Racing Point next year, in what is expected to be a three-year deal.

Haas and Alfa Romeo are the most likely landing spots for Perez should he wish to remain in F1, with neither team yet to confirm any of its drivers.

On the mention of Stroll, the Canadian businessman's multi-million-pound sterling investment to increase his stake in Aston Martin will also see Racing Point become the carmaker's works team from 2021.

"We managed to overcome obstacles and I am very proud of saving the jobs of several of my team mates".

"I'll keep the memories of the great moments lived together, the friendships and the satisfaction of always giving my all". The team, however, was allowed to continue to use the offending components this season.

'To the current administration, led by Lawrence Stroll, I wish nothing but the best in the future, especially with the upcoming Aston Martin project'.
