Google did not respond to a request seeking comment on how Paytm's cashback offer violated its policies. Google is yet to give out formal statements on the same. The app's security isn't in question, but because Google doesn't promote online gambling services on the Play Store, it was banned for a short while.
Reports suggest that Google had notified the developers for violating the guidelines and was in touch with the developers.
A lot of users have raised concerns over the sudden removal of Paytm app from Play Store.
A spokeswoman for the USA search giant said the app had been removed for violating its policies on online gambling.
Earlier on Friday, Alphabet Inc's Google said in blog post that it did not allow "online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that facilitate sports betting".

Now, it isn't clear if Paytm (and by extension Paytm First Games) was a one time or repeat offender. Additionally, Samsung users can download it directly from the Galaxy Store.
The report further states that Google has urged Disney+ Hotstar, which has the mobile broadcast rights for IPL, to display a warning before running ads for fantasy sports apps.
