Bahrainis protest against normalization deal, burn Israeli flags

Calling it a "truly historic day", Mr Trump said on Friday that Israel and Bahrain were establishing full diplomatic and commercial relations.

South Korea welcomes an agreement reached between Bahrain and Israel to normalize their diplomatic relations, the foreign ministry said Monday.

Some Israelis now believe it is only a matter of time before the Saudi kingdom itself makes peace with Israel.

And we think, ultimately, you'll have most countries join, and you're going to have the Palestinians in a very good position.

What President Trump has done here is unthinkable. We are witnessing an alliance, a military alliance, being created in the region. And in the three weeks since Abu Dhabi's announcement, Israeli trade delegations have visited the UAE and several putative deals have been announced.

The report came as part of the Arab-Israeli normalization efforts launched by the Trump administration after reaching the UAE-Israeli agreement. It is not about peace, it is not about relations between countries.

The Arab media underscored that Saudi Arabia has given its blessing to Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates on their way to signing peace agreements and that the region may be up to a process that will lead to further peace agreements, including with the Saudis.

Trump on TikTok: 'I'm not extending deadlines'
According to Mr Trump, TikTok and other Chinese apps that collect data on United States citizens pose a national security threat. The app, however, has sued the Trump administration in response to what it said is a "heavily politicized" executive order .

"Washington exploits its political and economic power to force the Arab countries to normalize ties with Israel", said Hanan Ashrawi, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, in a press statement.

"White House bullet points suggest how Trump will be framing his global dealmaker credentials for his election campaign: as a harbinger of Middle East peace and prosperity, with more Arab and Muslim countries likely coming on board to normalize relations with Israel", noted the BBC's Barbara Plett-Usher.

"What happened was an implementation of the United States deal of the century", he stated, worrying that these offers will not accomplish peace if the Israeli-Palestinian dispute is not fixed initially.

While Trump's approach has pushed the Palestinians into a corner, it has also vindicated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's longstanding belief that his country can secure its future and avoid global isolation without making any concessions to the Palestinians.

The Gaza protest, attended by a few dozen, was organised by Hamas.

Trump's reelection would bring even more pressure to bear on the Palestinians, potentially leading them to abandon the two-state solution altogether and demand equal rights in a single binational state.

"The agreement between the despotic regime in Bahrain and the Zionist occupation government is a total betrayal of Islam and Arabism and a departure from the Islamic, Arab and national consensus", Al-Wefaq said on Twitter.
