That high school is North Paulding High in Dallas, Georgia, and this week, it's shut down again because at least nine students and staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.

Watters believes much of the school's staff supports her actions, but some of her fellow students don't.

Cherokee County schools resumed in-person learning on Monday, August 3. On Sunday, Paulding County School District Superintendent Brian Otott announced that in-person classes would be suspended on Monday and Tuesday this week, and that the district isn't ruling out the possibility that classes may be canceled for longer than that. The 15-year-old posted on Twitter a photo showing students walking down a crowded hallway, some wearing masks, others without face coverings.

"I apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause, but hopefully we can all agree that the health and safety of our students and staff takes precedence over any other considerations at this time", the letter states.

She also had a message for school administrators who continue to defend reopening despite Georgia's high rate of coronavirus cases.

"We need the Atlanta Falcons, we need the Atlanta Hawks, we need all the influencers out there who these teens look toward to be out promoting mask wearing, to have masks with cool designs on them, to make it a cool, a fun and exciting thing to do", he said. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported it obtained the principal's letter from the school district.

Two students were suspended for sharing images and videos on social media that showed throngs of students - majority without protective facial coverings - filling school corridors last week.

Biden picks Kamala Harris as running mate
Harris, who became the Senate's second Black woman in its history when she was elected in 2016, was always at the top of the list. Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Jill Biden, the nominee's wife, lead the Tuesday slate, which also includes former acting U.S.

A recent joint report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association estimate some 97,000 children tested positive for the virus in the U.S.in the last two weeks of July.

The viral photos showed students standing shoulder to shoulder in crowded hallways at North Paulding High School northwest of Atlanta and squeezed together for first-day-of-school senior photos at two high schools in nearby Cherokee County.

"We've given the responsibility to the schools, to the local superintendent", Kemp said.

Carmona said custodial workers were cleaning and disinfecting the school building daily - a practice that offers only marginal protections against the virus, which primarily spreads through person-to-person contact, not from contaminated surfaces. In addition to the superintendent's letter, the school system posted information about all confirmed infections and quarantines on its website.

"This morning my school called and they have deleted my suspension".

The school was closed as a result of the infections and the district announced it would move learning online for Monday and Tuesday.
