President Donald Trump this morning again called on the U.S. Postal Service to increase the amount it charges Amazon to deliver packages, seeking to turn the tech giant into a subplot in a broader national debate over USPS funding and operations.

Parish said she is concerned the postal service might be used as a tool for Trump to win the 2020 primary election by making it harder for certain demographics to access mail-in and absentee ballots.

The legislation being prepared for the vote, the "Delivering for America Act", would prohibit the Postal Service from implementing any changes to operations or level of service it had in place on January 1.

Critics maintain that the changes are an attempt to purposely slow mail delivery service, citing Trump's comments last week that implied he was blocking funding to USPS in order to impede mail-in voting in this year's general election, including the race for president.

The House reportedly would focus on the ways in which they allege Trump's postmaster general, Louis DeJoy, is undermining the agency ahead of the November election.

Both Healey and Secretary of State William F. Galvin have urged MA voters who plan to submit their ballots by mail to do so as early as possible, and Healey urged residents to "continue to have faith in the Postal Service" despite what she called Trump's efforts to undermine it.

With tens of millions of mail-in ballots expected during the coronavirus pandemic. worsening mail delays, shorter post office hours and greater service disruptions have raised alarms about potential voter disenfranchisement and political chaos around the country after polls close.

Speaking to reporters Saturday at his New Jersey golf club, Trump said universal mail-in voting would be "catastrophic" and would render the United States "the laughingstock of the world".

Trump's tweets about mail-in voting led to Twitter amending the tweets to include a fact-check around the mail-in voting process, with the social media platform acknowledging that Trump had made an "unsubstantiated claim that mail-in ballots will lead to voter fraud". Utah's members of Congress ought to step up and ensure that the Postal Service has what it needs to guarantee our democracy is sustained, come rain or snow or sleet or even Donald Trump. And because of the pandemic, it is about to receive scores of millions of mail-in ballots in states throughout this country. We need to subpoena the Postmaster General, and if he fails to appear, we should send the Sgt at Arms to arrest him.

Due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus, a growing number of US states are expanding options for voting by mail instead of in person for the November presidential election.

Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told CNN on Sunday the White House would agree to $10bn to $25bn in fresh funding for the USPS. Voting by mail has a long history in the USA, dating back to the Civil War. "But my own view is we want people to vote".

"There is also evidence that the postmaster general has a financial stake in multiple financial entities that are either competitors to or contractors for the post office".
