Ajax star Donny Van De Beek is set to join Manchester United

United have been monitoring the Netherlands global for a while as they look to strengthen their midfield options and firmed up their interest when it became clear that Van de Beek was keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Saturday morning saw claims from the Catalan media that Manchester United and Tottenham had initiated contact over signing Ajax's Donny van de Beek.

Ajax apparently value the midfielder at around €40 million.

Manchester United are closing in on deals to sign FC Barcelona defender Marc Jurado and Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, according to a report in England.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can finalise his signing before the new Premier League season begins. Manchester United was also monitoring the midfielder for a long time. Now they want the Ajax star.

Chris Pratt , also a Marvel star, said: "My prayers go out to Chadwick's family and loved ones". However, it was his titular role in 2018's Black Panther that gave him worldwide fame.

Ajax manager Eric Tan Haag said after Van De Beek's departure: "Agreements have been made with him for a transfer so when this opportunity arrives for him, we will cooperate".

The Express says van de Beek is valued at £49m by Ajax and United have the financial muscle to meet that valuation, and the Dutch worldwide would be a cheaper alternative to Grealish - who's reported valued at over £70m by Aston Villa.

United are willing to offer Van de Beek a five year contract worth a significant pay rise on his current £30,000-per-week wages.

Although Van de Beek, a product of the Ajax academy, can play as a box-to-box midfielder - and scored 10 goals in 37 appearances for Ajax last season - it would therefore be expected he would take a deeper role at United should Pogba stay.
