Grady County Schools delays school start date

In Detroit, some parents and teachers vehemently oppose summer classes, with some protesters blocking buses from picking up students.

The Reopening Advisory Committee at the New Hartford Central School District is leaning toward a hybrid plan for the fall, wherein students would go to school for two days and learn remotely for three days each week. "We are not seeing clusters and at this point this does not suggest school spread". The Grady County School District has delayed the start of school until September 8. AM sessions would last from 9 a.m. until 11:15 a.m., and PM sessions would last from 12:45 3 p.m.

Students would be split into two groups, with one group going to school physically on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the second group going in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Level 10-Virtual/Remote Learning for most students for the first nine weeks of school.

The other option is 100% virtual instruction. If the district chose the nine-period option, it would have to remain for an entire semester, because switching to the shortened six-period day would take "an absolute rebuilding of our master schedule", according to Director of Junior High Education Shannon Lueders.

"I imagine that person will not only do things like examine staff and student demographics in the Lansing school district, but also to make sure that things like discipline are not disproportionately affecting Black students", says Lawrence. Peoria students will begin the school year with distance learning on August 5 and will stay in that format at least until Labor Day.
