Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek test positive for coronavirus, both admitted to hospital


Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood megastar who is widely considered in India as the country's greatest living actor, has been diagnosed with coronavirus and hospitalized.

He says all required authorities, family members and staff have been informed of this and are all being tested.

"Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19".

The coronavirus antigen test reports of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aaradhya Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have come negative, confirmed the hospital sources to News18. Rumours began around 9.30 pm about Bachchan being admitted to Nanavati Hospital, which is close to his Juhu home.

He shared another tweet where he wrote, "The BMC has been in touch and we are complying with them".

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that only Amitabh and Abhishek are COVID-19 positive and rest in the family and staff have tested negative and are in isolation. On Saturday, he took it to social media to announce this news.

"I will pray and not eat till you recover and leave hospital", posted one fan Manoj Pandit on Twitter, where Amitabh Bachchan has over 43 million followers. "Sending you lots of love and strength".

Amitabh Bachchan's latest film was Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo, released in India on the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform last month.

Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar, taking to twitter, wished him a speedy recovery.

His upcoming movies include Chehre, Brahmastra and Jhund. He is also scheduled to host season 12 of a popular quiz shows Kaun Banega Crorepati.
