That trophy was stripped by the NCAA, as well as the national championship Bush helped the Trojans win in 2004. The NCAA imposed sanctions on the Trojans in 2010 after a four-year investigation into potential extra benefits Bush received while enrolled. The probe determined that the 2005 Heisman Trophy victor and family members, while he was a student-athlete, accepted cash, travel expenses and a home in the San Diego area where Bush's parents lived rent-free for more than a year and with which they were provided $10,000 to furnish.

"Guidance is one thing that young athletes coming through the college system miss on so much", Bush told Playboy recently.

Bush had been banned for life, but a 2017 NCAA rule change limited such school-individual disassociation to 10 years. He rushed for 3,169 yards and scored 38 touchdowns from 2003-2005.

Bush starred at running back for the Trojans from 2003 through 2005.

USC interim athletic director Dave Roberts identified that June 2020 would mark the 10-year mark ... and hinted the college wish to deliver Bush again. He returned to the Los Angeles Coliseum for a Trojan game for the first time when the Fox show aired from inside the stadium before a game Friday night between USC and Utah.

"I've enjoyed getting to know Reggie and so many of his teammates, and I'm pleased his disassociation has ended so that we can welcome him back to our family".

Bush was not recognized by the school during that game. According to a Twitter post by Rams beat writer Greg Beacham, Woods gave credit to Bush for inspiring many after him, including Woods, to go to USC.
