The Ford Mustang Mach 1 returns!


The GT350's 6-speed manual transmission comes standard for the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1.

Also harkening to the first-gen Mach 1 is a deep 3-D mesh two-piece upper grille featuring two round elements that evoke the inboard high-beam lamps of the 1969 vehicle. Now, the covers have been removed, revealing key details of the auto.

Ford recently announced that new owners of their upcoming electric auto, the Mustang Mach E, will be given 250 kWh of complementarity charging at Electrify America charging stations.

The front end on the Mach 1 has also been reengineered and integrated with components from the Shelby GT350 and GT500 models, including the intake manifold, oil filter adapter, and engine oil cooler, which is created to increase engine oil cooling by 50%, Ford said. These include the intake manifold, oil filter adapter, and engine oil cooler which increased engine oil cooling capability by 50%. "There's an oil cooler on one side for the engine oil which improves that cooling by about 50 per cent, and a transmission oil cooler on the other side which hooks into either a manual or automatic transmission". The Handling package gets a different set that are an inch wider, going from 9.5 inches to 10.5 inches at the front, and from 10 to 11 inches at the rear. The instrument panel even features a unique "Dark Spindrift" paint with aluminum accents.

"I love the way the Bullitt motor pulls all the way to redline, it's one of the best 5.0-litres we've ever done", Carl Widmann, the aforementioned program engineer says.

Though we were expecting the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 to be more powerful than the 2019 Mustang Bullitt, the 5.0-litre V8 produces the same 480bhp & 567Nm in both models.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1's optional Handling Package available exclusively with the six-speed manual adds a larger unique higher downforce front splitter, new front wheel lip moldings, and a low-gloss Magnetic swing spoiler with a Gurney flap and rear tire spats from Shelby GT500. The 2021 Mustang Mach 1 won't hit North American dealerships until Spring of 2021. The Mach 1 features the latest MagneRide calibration, a stiffer steering I-shaft, new EPAS calibration, stiffer sway bars and front springs, as well as a rear subframe with stiffer bushings and a rear toe-link from Shelby GT500 to improve ride and handling.

A new two-piece upper grille, lower grille and valance, and new side grilles, all contribute to Mach 1's signature look and more demanding aero and cooling performance requirements.

The team resisted the urge to include ram-air scoops or shaker hood elements popular on past Mach 1 editions-opting instead for functional air extractors toward the front of the hood. But the car's most aerodynamically important upgrade is the underbelly pan which extends 20 inches (508 mm) further rearward than on a Mustang GT Performance Pack. Mach 1 features 22 percent more downforce than a Mustang GT with Performance Pack Level 1 and the downforce improvement jumps to approximately 150 percent with the Handling Package.

That's enough for three to five full fast charges, according to the automaker-potentially a value of hundreds of dollars at EA's $0.99-per-minute standard rate.
