Global coronavirus cases exceed 7 million mark

Washington, June 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) The global number of COVID-19 cases has increased to over 7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 406,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

While states lift more restrictions and more Americans go out to socialize or protest, nearly half of USA states are seeing higher rates of new coronavirus cases.

The country's COVID-19 death toll has grown by 171 (112 yesterday) to 6,142.

The US has about 330 million people, while India has more than 1.

The US has recorded the most fatalities at 110,771; followed by Britain at 40,680; Brazil at 36,455; Italy at 33,964; France at 29,212; and Spain at 27,136.

China - excluding Hong Kong and Macau - has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 83,036 infections with 78,332 recoveries.

According to an AFP tally drawn from World Health Organization data, Europe overall has 183,338 deaths from 2,268,621 cases. Other states with over 5,000 COVID-19 deaths included Pennsylvania, Illinois, and MI, the CSSE data showed.

The Middle East has 10,412 deaths from 469,545 cases; Africa 5,048 deaths from 184,068 cases; and Oceania 131 deaths from 8,640 cases, it showed.
