German police investigating suspect in similar missing girl case — Madeleine McCann

According to the Guardian, German prosecutors began taking a closer look at 43-year-old Christian Brückner after obtaining a computer in 2016 that housed what they now believe contains strong circumstantial evidence pertaining to the McCann case.

5 year-old girl Inga Gehricke went missing on May 2, 2015.

"I always hoped they would find her alive", said Ms Sally Clegg, a 69-year-old from Yorkshire, who bought a holiday home in the white-walled town, whose name translates as "Beach of Light", eight years ago.

The 43-year-old, who is now in prison in Germany and has been named in German media as Christian B, is a German paedophile who is thought to have been in the Algarve resort of Praia Da Luz where Madeleine went missing 13 years ago.

Mitchell, in his interview with the BBC's Radio 4, underlined that although the German police are classifying it as a murder investigation, the British police are still treating it as a missing persons case.

The suspect is now serving a long sentence in a German prison for sexually abusing children.

German news websites have reported that authorities are now also allegedly examining connections to the disappearance of Rene Hasee.

In Germany's crime solving show "Aktenzeichen XY Unsolved" on public broadcaster ZDF Wednesday night, Christian Hoppe of Germany's Federal Criminal Investigations Office said no body has been found but "the investigation of the Federal Criminal Investigations Office instead led to the assumption that McCann has become the victim of a killing".

"The friend's suspicions were aroused and subsequently the Met Police received a call naming him".

Sources from Germany claim Brueckner had boasted he "snatched her" but had not confessed to her killing. "He is not being named and the police are quite adamant they are not going to do that, certainly not yet, but they want very specific details around his movement in 2007, even down to phone calls he received the night before Madeleine went missing and the fact he changed the registration of his vehicle the day after". "A report came on the TV and he said something to suggest that he knew what happened", Sky News reported.

He had to make it about the Black man who police murdered and whose death has sparked worldwide protests against police brutality. Biden panned Trump's comments during an economic speech in Delaware. "It's a great day for everybody".

Investigators are now desperately trying to locate his ex-girlfriends, including a Kosovan woman who was the convicted rapist's underage girlfriend and travelled with him to Portugal where Madeleine was kidnapped in 2007.

Hoppe said the suspect in the McCann case lived between Lagos and nearby Praia da Luz, and was regularly in the Algarve region from 1995 to 2007.

Madeleine McCann disappeared on holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007.

He was living in the area at the time, and local prosecutors have reopened the case to investigate his possible involvement.

Brueckner's first conviction for child sex crimes came in 1994 in Bavaria, when he was 17.

He was convicted of sexually abusing a child in Germany again in 2017 and was sentenced to 15 months in prison. In 2014, he was also convicted for assault.

According to reports the then six-year-old, from Elsdorf, Germany, went missing from a beach in 1996 while on holiday with his family in the Portuguese Algarve. The criminal is also facing another term for raping a 72-year-old American tourist in the same Portuguese municipality, almost two years before Madeleine's disappearance.

But there is also an ongoing case against him for rape.

Madeleine McCann's parents are "encouraged" by the results of the latest appeal over their daughter's disappearance. He was convicted of the attack in December past year and jailed.
