Some businesses have delayed plans to reopen, while others have reclosed because of jitters over the rising number of new cases or because of employees becoming infected by COVID-19.

The Florida Department of Health (DOH), in order to provide more comprehensive data, releases a report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day.

Once again Florida breaks its previous one day record of single-day coronavirus cases, adding 3,822 on Friday.

Florida has performed 1,618,540 tests so far, up 18,205 since Sunday.

Meanwhile, the New York Times' data shows that the growth rates of newly reported cases over the past two weeks remained mostly stable in Guam and 11 states: Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Washington.

Since the start of the outbreak, more than 2.2 million people in the USA have been infected with the coronavirus and at least 119,000 have died. During a news briefing, he said that the state was in a "much better position today than we were at the beginning of April", pointing to an increase in hospital beds and a decreasing mortality rate.

He said that this increased test comes with many people returning to the workforce.

Polk reported 120 new cases Sunday morning, pushing its total well past 2,000.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who on Saturday weighed quarantining visitors from Florida amid its surge in cases, warned of a second wave of infections in the nation after states faced political pressure to lift restrictions put in place to prevent the spread.

Ron DeSantis is the government of Florida.

For instance, Brannon Traxler, a physician consultant for South Carolina's Department of Health and Environmental Control, said there's evidence that "younger South Carolinians are not taking social distancing seriously".

The surge in positive cases among young people came as top CDC official Dr. Robert Redfield said that the United States has the capability to handle a spike in CCP virus patients, noting that the country has reached a plateau in cases.

"I think that we've started to see some erosion in the social distancing from probably some of the younger population", stated DeSantis. Ten of these states reported a jump of more than 50%, including Texas and Florida, some of the first states to reopen.

More than 150,000 new cases of the virus were reported to WHO Thursday, the organization's director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a Friday news conference.

"The world is at a new and risky stage". "We need to talk to people about following the guidelines, wearing masks, avoiding crowds, staying home if possible and washing their hands". Countries are understandably eager to open their societies and economies. Health officials said when that figure rises, it is one of the strongest indicators the virus is spreading.
