Yes! Nicolas Cage cast as Tiger King in Joe Exotic TV series


The Oscar victor has signed on to play Joe Exotic in a scripted series about the Tiger King personality, according to our sister publication Variety.

The Joe Exotic series gives Nicolas Cage the first headlining television series of his career.

Cage is mostly known for his work in film, and his name popped up here and there on fans' casting wish list for a potential project about Joe Exotic.

According to Variety, the Oscar victor will be the lead in a project from American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana along with Paul Young.

Although Cage is an excellent choice to play Joe Exotic, there are definitely other actors who would have nailed the role. But the series renewed questions about her spouse, who disappeared in 1997. And it was, as Nicolas Cage will star as the troubled animal breeder in a new scripted series.

The surreal story of Exotic - a gay, mullet-wearing private zoo owner now in prison for murder-for-hire - became a United States cultural phenomenon following the release of a Netflix documentary.

Another television series based on a podcast about Exotic is also in development.

Tiger King was one of Netflix's most successful releases ever. Globally, the views are way higher. Twitter users are saying he's the right one for the job and his facial expressions alone qualify him.

According to Variety, the eight-episode series will be created by CBS and Imagine's Brian Grazer, Oscar-winning producer of "A Beautiful Mind".
