National Hockey League awards regular-season trophies for shortened campaign

Ovechkin won the trophy for the third straight year, the seventh time in eight years and the ninth time overall, all of which are records since the trophy was introduced in 1998-99.

Since the National Hockey League is planning to go straight to the playoffs, it's handing out a handful of trophies for the regular season cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Boston Bruins finally have a Rocket Richard Trophy victor to their name, as David Pastrnak will finish the 2019-20 season as the co-winner of this year's trophy with the Capitals' Alex Ovechkin thanks to their 48-goal seasons. The Edmonton Oilers centre scored 43 goals and totalled 110 points, and claims the award by 13 points over teammate Connor McDavid. In connection with the completion of the regular season were handed out prizes to the best players of the first half of the season.

"It's a credit to his commitment, his passion, the hard work he's put in, the determination over the last three, four, five seasons", Holland said.

Draisaitl is also considered the front runner for the Hart Trophy as the league's most valuable player. He continues to take steps forward in his career.

White woman called police on black man in dog row
According to the woman who shared the video, the man filming is her brother Christian Cooper , who is not related to Amy Cooper . The incident made her realise that not everyone has the "luxury" of thinking of the police as a "protection agency", she added.

The Bruins led the league with 100 points (44-14-12) when the season was paused on March 12 due to the developing coronavirus pandemic.

The NHL has announced that once the season returns sometime in June or July, the top 24 teams (12 from each conference) will immediately jump into a playoff-style format.

Neely said in a statement Thursday, "Although the regular season did not end the way anyone hoped, we are honored to win this award for the second time in seven years".

The two leagues are very similar in the way they operate because of the number of teams in each league, the number of games played, and the amount of travel that is involved. "By getting a bye, they are going to face a team that just came out of a competitive series. The benefit and the curse of a bye, I suppose".
