Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, will address the Texas Democratic Party's 2020 convention next month, the party announced Thursday morning.

The Democrats' state convention, which was moved to an online-only platform amid fears of further spreading the contagious and sometimes deadly coronavirus, begins Monday and runs for six days.

Other college democratic organizations - which usually support the Democratic candidate for president and drum up support among young voters - including the Texas College Democrats, the Memphis Young Democratic Socialists and the Carolina Young Democratic Socialists, have all issued similar statements calling for a full review of Reade's allegations, according to reports by Campus Reform.

"We need a president who will lead with empathy and experience", said state party chairman Gilberto Hinojosa.

"I support Joe Biden 100% and will work tirelessly to help get him elected this November. This is our moment".

O'Rourke isn't the only former presidential candidate on the lineup, with Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren and former HUD Secretary and San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro also set to speak.

The announcement Thursday rounds out an unusual slate of big names that Texas Democrats have rounded up for their state convention.

The Democratic lawmaker, who is now in her home state, which is being rocked by violent protests following Floyd's death, said allegations against her were a "bold-faced lie". A major target for them is the Texas House, where Democrats need to flip just nine seats to reclaim a majority for the first time in almost 20 years.

The Texas GOP, meanwhile, plans to stick with the traditional in-person gathering July 16-18 in Houston.
