President Donald Trump on Friday said he has deemed churches and other houses of worship "essential" and called on governors to allow them to reopen this weekend despite the threat of the coronavirus.

All of the Ford executives giving Trump the tour were wearings masks, the president standing alone without one. The president did wear a mask while viewing historical cars out of the view of cameras, the company said.
The president said he wore a protective face mask - which photos of the event showed had a presidential seal - while touring the plant but took it off before he spoke to workers. "We're not going to close the country", Trump said.
Trump, seeking re-election on November 3, has urged states to loosen coronavirus restrictions so the battered USA economy can recover, even as public health experts warn premature easing of restrictions could spark a second wave of infections.
The Republican president and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have clashed during the coronavirus outbreak over her criticism of the federal response to the state's needs for medical equipment, like ventilators, and personal protective gear, such as gloves, masks and gowns.

The president has been warned that the 2020 race is going to be much tougher than his surprise victory in 2016.
But the USA now has a surplus of the breathing machines, leading Trump to begin describing the U.S.as the "king of ventilators".
"And now it's a natural disaster", Whitmer told CBS News, describing her conversation with Trump.
"I tested very positively, in another sense, this morning".
