Will Mitt Romney Block Republicans' Move To Subpoena Bidens?

Following Johnson's announcement, Romney - who sits on the Homeland Security Committee - signaled that he might vote against the subpoena.

Johnson and Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley have been investigating the Bidens for potential conflicts of interest involving Ukraine and China, where Hunter Biden also did business.

"I would hope if there's something of significance that needs to be evaluated, it be done by the Federal Bureau of Investigation or some other agency that's not as political as perhaps a committee of our body", he stated. Shortly after Trump was acquitted by the Senate on impeachment charges last month, the chairmen said they were seeking records of Hunter Biden's travel.

"Senator Romney has expressed his concerns to Chairman Johnson, who has confirmed that any interview of the witness would occur in a closed setting without a hearing or public spectacle", Romney's spokeswoman, Liz Johnson, told media outlets on Friday. "There's no question the appearance is not good".

The subpoena vote, set for Wednesday, comes as Trump and his Republican allies refocus their attention on Biden's connections to Ukraine after his sudden surge in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. "He will vote to allow the chairman move to acquire the files which were offered". President Trump was impeached by Democrats over a July 25, 2020 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he mentioned potentially corrupt practices by Joe and Hunter Biden.

The committee is composed of eight Republicans and six Democrats, meaning that a single majority member voting with the minority would cause a 7-7 tie vote, thereby causing the subpoena effort to fail. "I will bring that up all the time, because I don't see any way out", Trump said Wednesday in an interview on Fox News. However, these are questions that Joe Biden hasn't satisfactorily answered. Johnson alleges Blue Star sought to leverage Hunter Biden's Burisma role to make inroads with the State Department.

Company warns their vodka can't act as hand sanitizer
Tito's Vodka gave the same reply to several other savvy users who were using the brand to make their homemade sanitizer gel. But googler beware: If that recipe calls for using vodka to kill germs, it's probably not going to do anything.

He said he hopes to issue an interim report on the Bidens and Burisma in the next month or two, when the Democratic primaries should be winding down. He points to letters he wrote Peters in February on his intent to pursue the probe, which was before Biden won several states on Super Tuesday and revived his candidacy.

"I'm not Adam Schiff", Johnson said.

Along with the Burisma matter, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Grassley are investigating whether or not Democrats conspired with Ukrainian officers to hurt Mr. Trump's marketing campaign in 2016.

Johnson, a leading Trump ally, ignored the accusation that the stunt is political.

"I would prefer that investigations are done by an independent, nonpolitical body", Romney told The Washington Post just one day before deciding to vote in favour of the subpoena.
