In a new op-ed in The Atlantic, Donald Ayers outlines the approaches in which Barr has torn down reforms that have been put in put in the Justice Division after the Watergate scandal, which includes how Barr has handled the Stone and Michael Flynn cases which Ayers - like many Trump critics - thinks are attacks on particular counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe. According to Politico, more than 1,100 former Justice Department employees have signed the petition. And he knew that Trump expects the federal legal system to follow his whims and wishes, putting aside any notion of equality before the law in favor of greasing the wheels for the president and his associates.
Career prosecutors had recommended that Stone be sentenced to seven to nine years in prison for crimes that include lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstruction of justice.
A trio of Republican leaders expressed excessive support for Attorney General Bill Barr Tuesday, but took pains to lavish praise on President Donald Trump as well to avoid the appearance of cosigning Barr's recent criticism of the President.
The letter comes days after some Democratic senators pressed for Mr. Barr to resign, and after the New York City Bar Association said that it had formally reported the Attorney-General's behaviour to the Justice Department's inspector-general. A senior DOJ official told NPR that officials were "shocked" at the original recommendation. That prompted all four prosecutors to quit the case.
"Congratulations to Attorney General Bill Barr for taking charge of a case that was totally out of control and perhaps should not have even been brought", Trump wrote.
In a letter on Monday, more than 2,000 former Justice Department officials criticised the behaviour of Barr and Trump around the Stone case and said their actions "require Mr Barr to resign".

Patrick Murphy tweeted later the same day that he greatly appreciated Cambodia's assistance, as there are US citizens on the ship. By evening, the ship moved into the beach town's port, moving past the small fishing vessels that usually ply the waters.
Zebrak told NPR that Barr's move "sent shockwaves through the former DOJ alumni". Prosecutors said Stone intimidated a friend who could contradict his testimony. "We have to sort of speak up and speak out when we can". He was rewarded with stewardship of the Justice Department - and immediately set about implementing the new president's pro-police anti-immigrant agenda.
Stone's defense has asked for a sentence of probation, citing his age and lack of criminal history.
Stone's defence team has requested a new trial and unsuccessfully lobbied Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Tuesday to delay sentencing until she rules on that motion.
Barr has denied discussing with Trump the decision to intervene in the Stone case. Barr said he would like Trump to "stop tweeting", since the president's commentary makes it "impossible" to do his job.
This appeal demonstrates that the same forces that instigated the impeachment inquiry against Trump-through the actions of an anonymous CIA "whistleblower" who filed a complaint against the president with the Intelligence Community Inspector General-are still engaged in political warfare with the White House.
Now, with Trump in office, who Ayer said "apparently wants to be an autocrat", Barr's "carried out" his vision.
