West Indies' all-rounder Darren Sammy will be given Pakistan's highest civil award - Nishan-e-Pakistan - and honourary citizenship of Pakistan by President Arif Alvi on March 23, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Saturday. In his Twitter post, he recalled the valuable services of Darren Sammy for bringing back the global cricket in Pakistan.

Famous Pakistan Super League (PSL) commentator Danny Morrison, who has represented New Zealand during his cricketing career, has expressed his desire to become Pakistan's honorary citizen. He has been associated with the Pakistan Super League since its inception and also was part of a World XI that toured Pakistan for the first time to show the world how secure the country was for worldwide cricket. Citizenship and highest civilian award honor both Darren Sammy and Peshawar Zalmi. He said the decision of the government of Pakistan echoes the love and support of Pakistani cricket fans for cricketer Darren Sammy.

Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, said that they had requested the Pakistan President to grant honorary citizenship to Sammy because of his services to Pakistan cricket. He is now leading the Peshawar Zalmi side in the PSL 2020 season. "All the foreign players played their part", Sammy stated.
