David MacNeil, the CEO of WeatherTech, bought the ad after the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine helped treat his dog Scout for cancer.
The veterinary school helped save his 7-year-old golden retriever named Scout after he was diagnosed with cancer in July 2019 and given one month to live. I'm like 'I'm not putting that dog down. "There's just absolutely no way'".
Scout the golden retriever is a cancer survivor and all around good boy. Defying the odds, the pup beat a grim 1 percent chance for survival and is enjoying a new "leash" on life today, inspiring his owner to fundraise for veterinary research.
According to a statement from the university, MacNeil had lost three previous dogs to cancer when an ultrasound found a tumor on Scout's heart last summer.
Scout then underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and experimental immunotherapy that almost eradicated the tumor on his heart, per Forbes.
Scout was diagnosed in July 2019 and by September his tumour decreased in size by 90 per cent.

Although Scout's heart tumour has significantly shrunk, he is not cancer free and now undergoing treatment for lung nodules. The ad follows Scout's road to recovery and asks for donations to the school.
The commercial, titled "Lucky Dog", shows Scout's journey through chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments.

The commercial will appear during the second quarter on Sunday.
Mark Markel, dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine, said in a press release about Scout that the ad was an "amazing opportunity" for his school and the veterinarian industry worldwide.
