Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton has been named an All-Star for the second consecutive season, the National Basketball Association announced today. If one team wins each of the first three quarters and reaches the final target score first, $500,000 will be donated to the winning team's charity and $100,000 will be donated to the losing team's charity.
The Australian was snubbed last week as a starter in a vote by fans, current NBA players and media members but on Thursday NBA coaches ensured Simmons would play in the February 16 All-Star game in Chicago.
At the start of each quarter, the scoreboard will be reset to 0-0, but the cumulative score still will be kept as normal and will be used to determine the target score, so even though it might look different, there really is no change in how the score is being kept.
On Thursday, the National Basketball Association announced that the All-Star game format would be changed in order to honor Kobe Bryant.
Bryant wore number 24 for the last eight seasons of his career.
Health officials say they are prepared after first coronavirus confirmed in Toronto
During the SARS outbreak in 2003, 44 Canadians died - and a lot of them , including healthcare workers, were in Ontario. The new coronavirus has infected more than 2,800 people in China, with 106 dead, and has spread to several countries.
The community organization selected by the victor of each of the first three quarters will receive $100,000 - a total of $300,000 donated to charity for those three quarters. If the third quarter ends in a tie, the $100,000 charity award for that quarter will be added to the award of the team that wins the NBA All-Star Game.
Meanwhile, the number 24 jersey worn by the late Kobe Bryant will play a role in determining the victor of the All Star game, with further plans to honour the Los Angeles Lakers great still to come.
The game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the United Center in Chicago, airing live at 5 p.m. PT on TNT.
