Astronaut Christina Koch posts heartwarming video of reunion with dog

Koch shared a video on Twitter of the moment she walked through her front door and LBD pounced to shower her with kisses. None other than her dog.

Astronaut Christina Koch just made his return to earth after a record 11 month space trip, and his dog LBD " What does Little Brown Dog mean?"

There's a lotta tail wagging, overjoyed jumping, hugs, and - OK we would like some tissues now, please and thank you.

The Michigan-born astronaut, who returned from the International Space Station (ISS) on February 6, set the record for the longest spaceflight by a woman and also took part in the first all-female spacewalk in October a year ago.

It's clear her adorable doggo is ecstatic to finally have her home.

She landed safely on Kazakhstan on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The end of NC State grad Christina Koch's year in space included a reunion with her dog LBD, and its overwhelmed reaction was captured in a video that is getting millions of views. Koch, 41, says as she gets down on her knees to pet and play with the excited pup.

The electrical engineer-turned astronaut said she counted herself lucky to not have suffered more serious ailments.

As NASA gears up for the next generation of lunar missions and eventual Mars missions, studying how microgravity affects the body will be crucial as longer spaceflights could become the norm.

Koch's time in space was history-making.

"I didn't necessarily know what this mission was going to turn into when I launched", Koch told ABC News' senior transportation correspondent David Kerley in an interview from the space station last month.

"We take daily sensory inputs for granted until they are absent ..."
