Tottenham complete the signing of PSV Eindhoven forward Steven Bergwijn

"We are delighted to announce the signing of Steven Bergwijn from Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven".

Bergwijn, who signed a deal through 2025 for an undisclosed fee, can play on either wing and has played nine times for the Netherlands, having made his worldwide debut in October 2018.

The 22-year-old was left out of the PSV squad to face FC Twente on Sunday and was accused by the Dutch media of travelling to London without the club's permission, but manager Ernest Faber later confirmed that it was sanctioned.

However, with Spurs having lost Christian Eriksen to Inter, the club have made a move to bolster their creative options with the gifted Bergwijn.

A PSV statement read: "Steven Bergwijn did not join his PSV team-mates for training on Tuesday morning". I know what I can bring for this club, for this team.

Bergwijn has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in Europe over the last couple of years, helping PSV fight for domestic silverware and compete in Europe.

Since then he has made 149 appearances for the club, winning three Eredivisie titles, while contributing 31 goals and 41 assists.

Analysis: How good is Bergwijn? So far this campaign he has registered six goals in 29 appearances.
