Tom Hanks' son Chet confuses fans with accent at Golden Globes 2020

Hanks, battling through a cold and his own emotions, thanked his family at the top of his speech before moving onto his fellow actors.

During Sunday's 77th Annual Golden Globes, Tom Hanks was the recipient of the 2020 Cecil B. DeMille Award, which the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gives to those who have provided outstanding contributions to entertainment.

On Monday morning, the 29-year-old shared a screenshot of CNN's headline that read "Tom Hanks' son Chet is filmed speaking patois at the Golden Globes-and the Internet is baffled". "Can I just say honestly, really, really, tell the truth now, how many people in this room have a clip package that includes 'The Love Boat?'" he asks the crowd, and then asks for a show of hands.
