They took out a rally late Sunday night on the campus of University of Hyderabad (UoH) here condemning the "brutal attack on JNU students" and blamed the ABVP for the violence and demanded the arrest of the culprits. However, the police managed to dodge the students' blockade and continued to march towards the convention centre.
"I appeal to all students to maintain the dignity of the university and peace on campus", he added. "I'm speechless because police knew this is happening, the security knew this is happening and there was no one from them to stop this for one hour despite police being there in the campus and despite students calling for help", she said.
In a statement issued on Monday, Sonia said: "The voice of India's youth and students is being muzzled everyday".
Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank condemned the violence calling it "extremely worrying and unfortunate". Students opposing the hike wanted to disrupt the admissions process and there have been clashes and vandalism on Friday and Saturday.
JNU students' union claimed that female students locked themselves inside the girls' wing in Sabarmati Hostel.
The prestigious university counts top Indian politicians including Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and this year's Nobel economics prize victor Abhijit Banerjee among its alumni. I unequivocally condemn the events of today. The university stands by all the students to facilitate their pursuit of academic activities.

Kejriwal had called a meeting at his residence over Sunday's violence. "We condemn this violence by ABVP and its supporters". The students shouted slogans when Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta was speaking a seminar- "Women's Participation in Decision Making" at the PU campus here.
Communist-linked student organizations at the university have led recurring protests against the fee increase, which went into effect in November. This is a desperate attempt by forces of anarchy, who are determined to use students as cannon fodder, create unrest to shore up their shrinking political footprint.
Sahiba Mazid, who spoke to Reuters by telephone from inside one of the university hostels, said many men wearing masks and carrying batons had entered the hostel.
"The crocodile tears shed by Ms. Banerjee [on JNU violence] make us suspicious that on whose side she is, those who are against the country", he asked.
Students at a university in Uttar Pradesh state held a candlelight march to protest the incident.
