Annabella Sciorra says Harvey Weinstein brutally raped her

Annabella Sciorra, best known for playing Gloria Trillo in "The Sopranos", went face to face with Weinstein at his trial in NY.

"Jessica buried her trauma and she tried to move on... until October 2017 when she finally realized it was not her, it was him", Hast said in court.

Dr Barbara Ziv, whose testimony helped jail Bill Cosby, the actor and comedian, said an attack by an unknown perpetrator in a dark alley was the exception not the rule, adding: "Another common myth is they will not return to the perpetrator. I believe I was raped".

In an emotional testimony at Weinstein's trial, she said that the alleged rape left her feeling like she was having "a seizure" and caused her to self-harm. "My body just shut down".

Miss Sciorra said that she ran into Weinstein one month later and confronted him about what had happened, to which he replied: "That's what all the nice Catholic girls say". She recalled Sciorra saying, "I can't, I can't, I can't" before hurriedly saying she had to go.

Sopranos star Annabella also claims that in another incident in Cannes about three years later, Weinstein turned up at her hotel room in his underwear and holding baby oil.

The producer allegedly raped her again the following November, when she agreed to cut Weinstein's hair in another hotel room. Perez said she tried to call Sciorra multiple times that night but Sciorra never picked up the phone.

The actress said she was just "fishing" to try to find out through the friend whether Weinstein knew that a reporter had gotten wind of her accusations. "At the time, I didn't understand that that was rape", said Sciorra.

"She said, 'I think I was raped, ' and the way she said it was so unusual, because she was still whispering and she said, 'I was raped, ' and her voice started shaking, and I said, 'Do you think or did it happen?'"

Defense attorney Damon Cheronis challenged Ziv on whether women ever report a consensual sexual encounter as a rape years later "out of shame".

Women accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault at his criminal trial will have to answer for two realities - the stories they will tell on the witness stand and the starkly different record preserved in emails and other records from before and after the alleged assaults.

Sciorra's allegation from the winter of 1993-94 is too old to be charged as a separate crime, but prosecutors hope it will show that Weinstein was a repeat sexual predator, a charge that could put him in prison for life.

She said she met Weinstein at an industry event in Los Angeles in 1990 or 1991. She is one of six women who are being permitted to testify in connection to the case, though more than 80 women have shared stories of misconduct, including rape, about Weinstein.

Prosecutors said the Hollywood movie tycoon raped and sexually assaulted young women and actresses, including Sciorra, over the course of decades.

Weinstein, a friend of Hillary Clinton, has insisted all his sexual relationships were consensual.

"He pinned her arms above her head and despite her verbal and physical attempts to stop him, he continued to hold her down. and raped her", Hast said.

As the trial wrapped for the day, prosecutors said they wanted to call actress Rosie Perez to testify that Ms Sciorra told her about the alleged attack, a request the defence opposed. She finally came forward with her allegations in 2017 as part of The New Yorker's exposé on Weinstein.

Rotunno, who began her cross-examination shortly before noon, repeatedly harped on the fact that Sciorra could not provide an exact date or time of the assault and picked at more intimate details of the alleged assault.
