Giuliani also met former Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, according to pictures posted on Twitter and a statement on Facebook by Lutsenko's spokeswoman.

Earlier, some American mass media said that on Wednesday, December 4, Mr. Giuliani met with former prosecutor general, Yurii Lutsenko, in Budapest (Hungary) and on Thursday, arrived in Kyiv to meet with former prosecutor general, Viktor Shokin, and prosecutor, Kostiantyn Kulik.

The ex-prosecutors, all of whom have faced corruption accusations, have played a role in the Ukrainian saga on some level, whether it was regarding Biden and whether they disclosed negative information about Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, in 2016.

Giuliani, who is President Donald Trump's personal attorney, is overseas amid increased scrutiny by Democrats and federal investigators about his role in the president's dealings with Ukraine and a possible investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, The New York Times reports.

The lawmaker earlier claimed to have evidence of United States presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter receiving lobbying money from gas company Burisma.

Democrats and Republicans sparred in the House Judiciary Committee's first impeachment hearing, battling over whether President Donald Trump's pressure on Ukraine to conduct investigations into his political rivals constituted impeachable offenses. "Unfortunately our country finds itself in the center of scandals relating to worldwide corruption". Igor Kolomoisky, a Ukrainian billionaire who had ties to Zelenskiy, also said he wasn't planning to meet Giuliani.

The U.S. embassy was not immediately available for comment.

Giuliani did not respond to requests for comment from the Los Angeles Times. He met, among others, with Andriy Derkach, a Kremlin-friendly Ukrainian parliamentarian who recently wrote a letter to Giuliani beseeching him to support criminal justice reform in the country - an effort that could help Giuliani take on the mantel of corruption fighter rather than dirt digger. Giuliani's visit to Kyiv coincided with a visit by Philip Reeker, the acting USA assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.

Reeker met the new Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka for what the US embassy said was a discussion about reforms. While he was prosecutor general, Lutsenko privately met Giuliani twice this year: in NY in January and later somewhere in Poland.
