Seattle tackle Duane Brown will also need surgery which will sideline him for the 49ers matchup and at least the early rounds of the National Football League playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll revealed on Monday (December 23) that Marshawn Lynch will "be flying in there this morning, and we're going to give him a really good chance to come back and play for us".

Hours later, Lynch would be at the facility to take his physical and officially sign with the Seahawks. Lynch brought a distinctive attitude to the Seattle field, running for 6,348 yards in six seasons for 57 Touchdowns in 82 games. In the 2018 season with Oakland, he averaged 4.2 yards per rush, which is serviceable if you could promise that amount in Week 17. The move comes after the Seahawks lost both Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise to injury in Week 16.

He is coming back to suit up for the Seahawks as they face their rival San Francisco 49ers in the season finale. All three players were integral parts of Seattle's backfield this season.

Rookie Travis Homer has been with the organization all season, but he has just eight rushing attempts for 52 yards this season.

The coach who first got to know Lynch recruiting him out of Oakland when Carroll was leading USC in the mid-2000s said he thinks Lynch "may have four or five games left in him".

However, Lynch was shut down in October, as he was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury.

Now, we certainly don't want to get ahead of ourselves because despite the success that the Packers have had up to this point, a loss or two in the final weeks could quickly change everything.

Seattle's answer to their running back woes came in the form of a running back all-too familiar for 49ers fans.

Also Monday, Carroll said he expects Jadeveon Clowney to play against the 49ers after missing the Cardinals game with a core-muscle injury he's been dealing with since Week 10.
