Prince Philip Admitted To The Hospital As 'Precautionary Measure'

The Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to hospital.

Prince Philip was taken from Norfolk to King Edward VII hospital in London on Friday morning, the BBC reports. They revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh's doctor advised him to seek treatment as a precautionary measure.

"He's expected to remain under observation for 2-3 days", the spokesperson said.

Prince Philip has rarely been seen in the public eye since his retirement from royal duties in 2017.

The 98-year-old royal was not taken to the medical center via ambulance as it was a pre-planned visit.

And in the midst of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June 2012, the Duke was forced to miss the majority of the festivities after falling ill with a bladder infection.

Queen Elizabeth II travelled to Sandringham today as Prince Philip was admitted to hospital.

She did not change her schedule after her husband's hospital admission, which was planned in advance.

He stopped attending public engagements in 2017.

He married the queen in 1947. The following month, Buckingham Palace announced that he had voluntarily surrendered his driver's licence.

The 93-year-old queen traveled to Sandringham from London on Friday morning after attending the State Opening of Parliament in London on Thursday.

The royal family traditionally spends Christmas at Sandringham, visiting the local church on December 25 and greeting well-wishers outside.
