Sam Hunt Arrested, Charged with DUI in Nashville

Country singer Sam Hunt has been arrested by the police for drunk driving in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hunt, wearing dark trousers and a blue hoodie, was filmed by the TV station as he left the jail Thursday morning.

Early Thursday morning, officers responded to a report of a driver heading the wrong direction on Ellington Parkway's northbound lanes, near Ben Allen Road, according to an arrest warrant, WKRN reports. Police report that Hunt, who was the only person in the vehicle, admitted that he had been drinking "recently", and had trouble locating his driver's license, at first handing over his credit card and passport to the responding officer.

And there were allegedly two empty beer cans next to him in his vehicle.

According to police, Hunt, 34, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

Hunt was arrested Thursday morning, booked into jail and released on $2,500 bond, according to WKRN-TV.

Police administered a field sobriety test, recorded via a dash cam, and discovered that Hunt had a blood alcohol level of.173. He was released from jail on bond shortly after 9 a.m. and a court date has been set for January 17, 2020, according to WKRN.

Hunt married his longtime love Hannah Lee Fowler in April 2017.
