Miami Heat Suspend Dion Waiters Without Pay After Edible Incident

The Miami Heat are zeroing in on making the playoffs this year, but they suffered a hiccup when Dion Waiters was nowhere to be seen during the team's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to ESPN, which cited sources, Waiters was suffering from a stomach ache and seeking relief when he ingested the unfamiliar substance after the team's victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Chargers Owner Says Alleged London Move is "Total F**king Bulls**t"
Oakland possesses one of the best offensive lines in the league after being well below average in this facet last season. Well, we now know how the Chargers feel about relocating to London - or anywhere, for that matter.

The next game Waiters, 27, will be eligible to play in following the suspension will be the Heat's road matchup against the Nets on December 1.

The Heat did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment. He also hasn't been suspended by the team for the incident. If the league does slap him with a multiple-game suspension for his actions, he can kiss his money goodbye. Multiple reports have indicated that Waiters holds practically no value in the NBA's trade market. According to ESPN, he could lose a $1.2 million bonus if he misses three more games this season. Through nine games, he has only twice been active and has not been in uniform and on the bench. The team at first didn't reveal the reason for Waiters not being present during the game.

Waiters is in the third season of a four-year, $52 million contract he signed with the Heat in the summer of 2017.
