"Frozen II" Makes History At The Box Office In Debut Weekend


In North America, Frozen held the previous record with a five-day Thanksgiving debut of $93 million, including $67 million for the three-day weekend (the pic debuted the Wednesday before the holiday).

Reportedly, it makes Frozen II the highest-earning animated movie ever for the month of November.

While Frozen 2 dominated at the top spot, other films were able to find success this weekend. Additionally, Frozen 2 also delivered the biggest opening weekend for a Disney Animation title - and second-best for Disney Animation and Pixar - in India.

Making Frozen 2 was always going to happen.

Matching that whole gross gained't be straightforward sledding, however "Frozen 2" has a head begin. And it's the largest opening for any Walt Disney Animation Studios release.

It became the ninth-highest grossing animated film of all time in the UK- with hopes that Frozen 2 will surpass that record.

The film grossed more than 165.13 million yuan (US$23.49 million) of box office revenue, accounting for about 66 percent of the daily total. In China, the movie was the third-highest opening for a cartoon film.

"Frozen 2" received a slightly less enthusiastic, though still glowing, reception from audiences, who awarded it an A- CinemaScore compared to "Frozen's" A+.

She said "Frozen 2" pictures the characters' growth as they accept the change and overcome obstacles of the scary outer world. The film has a B+ on CinemaScore and 46% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ford v Ferrari continues to perform well, easing a respectable 49% to earn 16 million (adding up to a 57.9 million tally so far). Frozen 2 marked the return of the original voice cast - Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad - and gave us an insight into the unknown by delving into how Elsa got her magical powers in the first place.

"Charlie's Angels" had a dramatic 62% drop from its opening at the domestic box office, only earning $3.1 million in its second weekend.

New Sony release "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood", a drama about a journalist's relationship with beloved television star Fred Rogers (played by Tom Hanks), debuted in third place with an estimated $13.5 million.

The movie brought in $223 million internationally at 37 markets.

Opening at #4 was the Chadwick Boseman crime thriller 21 Bridges at $9.3 million, below the expectations for the STX film produced by The Russo Brothers.
