Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg Expected to Run for President

Opinion polls reveal three contenders battling on peak of the Democratic race: U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren of MA and Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who directs the wing, and medium Joe Biden, the former vice president.

Joe Biden says he welcomes the possibility of a Democratic presidential campaign from billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Democratic donors have been sounding the alarm about their front-runners, but even if they're right, Democrats already have better options than Bloomberg in the race.

"I'd be happy. There's nobody I'd rather run against than little Michael, Trump told reporters as he left the White House for a trip to Georgia. But I think he's going to hurt Biden, actually".

But he is understood to have recently voiced scepticism that any of the current Democratic field could beat Mr Trump in the election a year from now.

President Donald Trump was ready with the insults.

"I have no problem with him in the race", Biden said. Commenting on Bloomberg's potential candidacy, the former vice president said he was not anxious the media mogul would draw away centrist voters.

Alabama has one of the earlier ballot deadlines among primary states.

Ivanka Trump Says Whistleblower's Name Not Relevant to Impeachment Probe on President
In August the whistleblower filed a report that eventually triggered impeachment proceeding against Mr Trump. Mulvaney was issued a subpoena Thursday and ordered to appear before the Intelligence committee Friday.

Bloomberg is estimated to have wealth worth about $52 billion and will plan on self-funding his presidential campaign, while the rest of the DNC primary field focuses on fundraising.

New Hampshire Democratic party chair Ray Buckley said it was unfortunate that Mr Bloomberg would not "be tested the same way that the other Democratic candidates have been and will be".

If he does get on the ballot in Alabama, Bloomberg will have to register in other states that have later filing deadlines. "But there is zero evidence that rank-and-file voters in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire feel the same". "If I'm not mistaken, I'm doing pretty well both relative to Trump and relative to all the people running in the Democratic primary".

Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack told The Associated Press that Bloomberg telephoned him Thursday evening as reports were emerging that he was weighing a campaign.

Bloomberg plunged his efforts - and his money - into gun control advocacy and climate change initiatives.

Still, his advisers acknowledge his late entry to the race could make competing in states like Iowa and New Hampshire, which have been blanketed by candidates for almost a year, difficult. He again looked seriously at a presidential bid earlier this year, travelling to early voting states and conducting extensive polling, but decided not to run in part because of Biden's perceived strength.

The last thing voters who are fed up with Trump would want is another mega-rich NY businessman to take his place, Klobuchar insisted.
