Calgary Flames host Friday news conference amid Bill Peters allegations

Sean McMorrow played for Peters in 2008-09 with the Ice Hogs Tweeted, "Worst human being to ever coach me ... treated me awful on a AHL team (IceHogs) where I won a League Award for Community Service".

"The subject matter that we've been dealing with over the last few days is difficult, it's hard and it does not in any way reflect the core values of the Calgary Flames", Treliving said. At the press conference on Friday, Treliving said the team's investigation into the matter has been completed.

"Post-game, prior to departing to Buffalo, I made a call and contacted Akim Aliu, which was the first of two conversations that I had with Akim throughout this review", Treliving said.

One of his former players in Carolina, Michal Jordan, said Peters had kicked him in the back while he was on the bench and had hit another player.

Aliu tweeted Monday night that Peters "dropped the N bomb several times towards me in the dressing room in my rookie year because he didn't like my choice of music".

Former Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos, who sold the team two years ago, told the Seattle Times on Wednesday night that he would have fired Peters "in a nanosecond" had he been made aware of the players' allegations by then-general manager Ron Francis.

Even before this incident was revealed, Peters was considered to be on the hot seat in Calgary because the Flames have played poorly this season.

President Trump and congressional hope to flip at least 19 of these swing districts so that they could retake the House majority. Asked directly by Tapper whether he would testify, Schiff said he wouldn't comment. "We're going to continue our investigation".

Asked if he thought Peters would coach hockey again, Treliving said he'd rather not speculate. Assistant coach Geoff Ward will take over on an interim basis.

Aliu's tweets came after reports surfaced of how poorly Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock dealt with his players in Toronto before he was sacked several days ago. Aliu, who was born in Nigeria and raised in Ukraine and Canada, tweeted: "Not very surprising the things we're hearing about Babcock. Kicking me and punching other players to the head during the game then pretending like nothing happened...couldn't believe my eyes what can happen in the best league".

Former Hurricanes assistant and current Carolina head coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed Wednesday that Jordan's story was accurate, but added: "It was definitely dealt with, in my opinion, correctly".

The Flames learned of Aliu's allegations midway through Monday's overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. On Wednesday, Peters acknowledged the incident in a letter of apology, which he sent to Treliving.

As it turns out, that would be Peters' last game on Calgary's bench.

On Tuesday, TSN got two of Aliu's Rockford teammates who were in the room at the time of the alleged incident, Simon Pepin and Peter MacArthur, to corroborate Aliu's account.

"To me it's what happened after that I'm proud about, actually", Brind'Amour said Wednesday. I was on pace for 20 goals in my first pro season and I wasn't getting any power-play or penalty-kill time. Aliu also appeared in 13 games for the ECHL's Toledo Walleye in '09-10. He was Spokane's head coach for three seasons beginning in 2005-06 and was Rockford's bench boss from 2008-09 to 2010-11.
